LAMED – THE STAND OFF

LAMED is the 12th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet.

LAMED speaks of the authority of the staff and being trained to live in the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh,  knowing that He shows up to fight ahead of us, especially when big moves must pave the way for His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Being the 12th Letter makes it a number of Governmental Perfection.

LAMED has a numerical value of 30, significant for various reasons .

WHAT IS A STAFF?

Throughout the TORAH, we learn that as the Israelites were preparing to be delivered from Egypt, Moses was chosen to lead the pack.  He needed to be taught and trained in the ways of the LORD, as this operation was going to be marked by many signs and wonders as a significant time in history that the people were to impart to the following generations. The staff was the symbol of authority and Yahweh would prompt Moses to use it to establish His sovereignty among all peoples.

In the above painting, the use of the staff combined by the words of Yahweh, through Moses, brought on the 10 plagues, and more significantly their amazing deliverance that no one expected, the parting of the Red Sea and all the miraculous things that transpired there. It also brought the justice that would fall over Pharoah and his army in a single day.

The staff then is used to instruct, to shepherd the sheep and also to correct.

Psalm 94:12 HNV  Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, and teach out of your law;

Micah 7:14  Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your heritage, who dwell by themselves in a forest, in the midst of fertile pasture land, let them feed;

THE DESIGN OF THE LAMED

The Lamed is the 12th letter we come to in the Hebrew alphabet and it is the only letter that sticks up the way it does. It is marked by the YUD on the superior part, establishing the authority of Yahweh, the Right Hand of His power, for the pulling down of strongholds. Yahweh has appointed people throughout history to move others along as it is always His intention that none shall perish and that everyone be given the opportunity to come along as one body. It’s height gives us the highest viewpoint or perspective, that we may have the eyes and wisdom that God has imparted by the Tables of the Law.  As a Sabbath keeper, I have learned and loved reviewing the Old Testament year after year. There is always something to glean from The Torah. I believe Scripture is clear that the Ten Commandments were not abolished and that the LORD delights in our obedience for following it. I truly believes that is how he planned to keep the body of Messiah in One accord. Worshipping Yahweh the way He intended is a sure way to get the heart knowledge He desires.

Psalm 45:6 HNV   Your throne, God, is forever and ever.  A scepter of equity (righteousness) is the scepter of your Kingdom.

Learning qualifies us to be a leader. It was the King’s duty to write a copy of the Torah and meditate on it night and day, so he may learn to revere the LORD, Our God, and not elevate himself above the other people. The more we learn about the beautiful and powerful  attributes of the One we love, we develop heart knowledge of Him, besides literal and historical knowledge. The Torah teaches us what moves God, how deep and far and wide is His love and so many demonstrations of that.  When we lose interest in learning about the One we love, so too, our love for Him diminishes.

Psalm 119:92-93   [92] Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction.

[93] I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life.

Isaiah 60:1-2    [1] Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. [2] For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

Thank you for continuing on this journey with me. We have passed the half mark of the Aleph- Bet.

  • The first 11 letters speak of our rescue. They speak of Yeshua rescuing us out of the world, out of darkness and into Himself.
  • The second set of 11 letters make reference to the journey or race we are called to persevere in, in faith, with courage and boldness in Yeshua until the end. In His strength we are victorious. Supernatural power is at our disposal by the authority of His Name for the pulling down of strongholds and if it is His will. On our own we could never make it to the Promised Land.
